Pastor and certified personal trainer Ken Corder will lead each session, which will include discussion of health and fitness, using both a physical and spiritual approach. Each session will lay out a practical plan for fitness, including stability, balance, flexibility, movement, heart and strength. Show up in sweats and get ready to get fit! We’ll begin at 7:00 p.m. For more information, you can reach Ken Corder at 502-475-3423. Invite a friend to attend with you.
The FitSouls fitness group is designed for people of all ages and fitness levels. So don’t let anything hold you back! It is a non-judgmental, supportive group that will practice the physical and spiritual work of unloading in order to unleash our potential in Christ through physical and spiritual fitness. We will strive to make it a fun and non-intimidating experience for everyone!
The FitSouls Six-Week Introduction Outline:
Week One: Unload to Unleash! – We will learn that health and fitness for body and soul begin not with addition (the world’s attitude of “more and more”, such as another fad diet or more special equipment) but of subtraction. Unloading bad habits, burdens and destructive practices in order to unleash our potential in Christ. We will also discuss what it takes to get started in an effective lifestyle of fitness. – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Week Two: Stability, Mobility and Balance – We will learn that every activity of daily living begins with a strong core, which gives us stability for mobility and balance. We will learn and practice exercises to strengthen our core. We will also discuss the importance of being grounded in the way of Jesus in order to lead a stable, flexible, well-balanced life. – “…like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)
Week Three: Movement -We will discuss the importance of moving slowly and often. We will introduce exercises for the five main types of movement: pushing, pulling, bending, stepping and rotating. We will also discuss the blessings of living and moving and having our being in God – “For in him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28).
Week Four: Pure Heart (Cardio Fitness) – We will learn that a pure and strong heart frees us to move gently but powerfully in life. We will also learn effective, safe cardio routines. – “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10).
Week Five: Renew Your Strength (Strength Training) – We will learn the basics of safe and effective strength training to regain and retain muscle mass. We’ll also discuss the spiritual power of hope. – “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).
Week Six: All for the Glory of God – We will tie it all together and introduce fitness plans you can use every week. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
If members are interested, following the six-week introduction, we can establish two FitSouls fitness groups, one designed for beginners and another for those looking for a more advanced fitness routine.
